Day 11: EPK
An Electronic Press Kit, also known as an EPK, is a digital promo package for your personal brand in PowerPoint or PDF format for easy sharing. It’s a dedicated document meant to be distributed to potential partners, current connections, or whoever else you see fit. It helps develop the story related to your personal brand so that you can be hired, linked, and shared in a controlled way.

Design
Consider your brand identity. You’ll need to make sure your EPK matches your branding and your website. Include your logo, color combinations, style, and fonts. It should suit your brands message and be clear, concise, and helpful. The type should be legible, and the language should be specific and simple. The simpler the better. The file size should be large enough for images to be appealing but it also needs to be small enough to be shared seamlessly through your email or website.
About
The first page of your EPK should include your logo. The second page should be an image that speaks for your brand. It can be a photo of you, your product, or your service. Just make sure it’s the best of the best. Maybe it’s a small montage of it all. Just wow the person you’re trying to impress.
The third, fourth, or fifth page will be about who you are.
Press Release
On the next page, you’ll want to include a current press release, remarkable experience, or noteworthy project. If someone receives your EPK and wants to write a story about you, what can they write about? What’s the most important thing that you have worked on recently that gives your brand meaning?
Analytics
You should definitely add any relevant analytical information like followers, visitors, views etc for each platform (i.e website, Instagram, Facebook, etc). but don’t add any detailed numbers from the backend until requested specifically. Include your audience and their demographics like their gender, age or location.
Services
Whatever it is you do, highlight that in these next few pages. Explain what you offer, show what you offer, and state what happens after someone accepts that offer. You’ll want to really walk the viewer through an experience of working with you. This is important so that future partners or customers know what to expect but also know what your value is. Make this extra special. What sets you apart from your competition? What would make someone hire you on the spot? But keep in mind – you’ve got to deliver this, so don’t overstate your ability.
Press Coverage
This is where you’ll share your most recent write-ups or news. Ideally, you’ll want about two to three that can speak to your expertise. These should add credibility to your reputation. This is your chance to brag, so don’t hold back. People will be more inclined to trust you and include you in their ideas. Include any awards or accolades, as well.
FAQ
Additionally, you may want to include a Frequently Asked Questions page. Depending on the nature of your service, there may be expectations, additions, and changes that may arise. Include those if it can help set you apart from the crowd. Are you flexible? Can you travel overseas? Are you over 21? Consider a few opportunities you’ll want to be involved in and conceptualize a few additional questions.
Contact
The contact page may be the most important page in your EPK. Be sure to clearly indicate who the best contact is, whether you or somebody else, just be sure include an email address and phone number for quick connection. Most projects are often on a tight deadline, so to avoid any missed opportunities, always keep a quick response effort. Include your website, product, services, or any other relevant links.
Before you finish the EPK, take a step back and remember who your audience is. Remember why you created it in the first place and make sure it’s stayed on task. You want to accurately portray yourself and your brand so that you can develop stronger relationships with the ones you give it to. So, don’t skip any steps. Most importantly, you’ll need to revisit your EPK often to update it.
Share
The easiest way to share an EPK is to save it to a file sharing service like Dropbox or Google Drive. From there can you always have it on hand. Update that file every few months and send an updated file to your contacts once a year.

- Explain the who, what, where, when, why and how but keep it simple yet informational. Don’t make it too wordy. Keep this messaging consistent with the About page on your website and your brand strategy.
- Use headers if you need to break information down. It’ll be easier for people to find what they’re looking for instead of rummaging through paragraphs.
- List the things you can be hired for like speaking engagements or photo licensing. Just make sure it’s specific to you.
- Whatever can be linked, be sure to link it. You don’t want people to search for what you’re referring to. Include a “See More” link on every page.
