Top 10 Tips to Get the Most of Your Lash Extensions

"I love your lashes. Do they fall out?"

I've been getting eyelash extensions for almost 5 years now. So when I hear the myth that your lashes fall out from overdoing it, I tend to laugh. But I wonder if it's because I'm just great at taking care of them or I get them done often. Regardless, I've got a few tips for those new to eyelash extensions.
Start with a discount
Use Groupon to find your lash technician or ask friends. But before you book anything, make sure you do some research on Yelp and Google. Filter your search by Rating and make sure you read the reviews. Don't decide too quickly. And because not all techs are the same, make sure you ask ahead of time if you can request a type of lash. Send photos and use specific names.

Spare up to 2 hours
Lash application can take anywhere from 1-2 hours so prepare accordingly. Never rush the tech if you want your lashes to be full and finished properly. You'll also probably take a nap! So don't eat or drink too much coffee or caffeine beforehand and go to the restroom before you lie down.

You'll get used to it
They will put a certain type of tape on your lash line, so if it itches or you feel any kind of discomfort - say something. You might even get a bit of glue in your eye which definitely stings but you won't lose your eye, your eye won't glue shut, and you definitely won't go blind. You'll also adjust to the "heavy" eyelid feeling or whatever kind of uncomfortable feeling you have after the lashes are finished.

Do NOT touch
Do not touch or rub your lashes under any circumstance unless you have mastered the art of rubbing your lid without touching any lashes. (It is me. I have mastered it.)

You will lose some
Some of your extensions will fall out - don't be alarmed. It's normal. But you can do some things to prevent it from happening.

Comb it out
Always comb your lashes before and after you wash your face or take a shower.

Oils are a no-no
Do not use oil based makeup remover on your lids. It will remove the lash glue.

Tiny strands latch
Do you not use q-tips because the cotton strands will get stuck on your lashes.

Use the correct tools
Buy a lash cleanse kit.
Buy some brushes.
Buy a silk pillowcase.

No waterproof
Do not use waterproof makeup around the eye. The lashes will get clumpy and it will be hard to remove without tearing out your own lashes.

I hope this helps! They may be a bit pricey but overall they have been a lifesaver because I really do not like mascara at all.  If you have any tips of your own or any questions at all - please comment below!

Thank you for highlighting that it can take up to two hours when having an eyelash extension procedure done. The other day my daughter mentioned that she would like to have her eyelashes extended to give it more dramatic flair. I will inform her that the treatment can take up to two hours, so that she can clear her schedule.

Eye lash extensions help to enhance the natural beauty around your eyes, and will provide you with long, beautiful lashes without the need for mascara. The extensions will provide a dramatic look, which can ensure that your eyes become the focus of your face. This style of enhancement will ensure that your eyes will remain looking stunning for many weeks.
