Happy holidays, everyone!
It's been awhile since I have done a blog post and a lot has happened but nothing too, too crazy! Only one of the coolest experiences I have had a pleasure of attending to. ;) This month I had such a blast attending the Adobe MAX conference in San Diego. Adobe invited me as one of their Adobe Insiders. My festival week began with a taco dinner at La Puerta and an exploration of some must see spots near the University of California in La Jolla, the Geisel Library, the Salk Institute, and views of the SD skyline.
The next day I embarked on a breakfast mission near the Marina called Richard Walker's Pancake House, absolutely delicious. I went with the strawberry Belgium waffle with extra whip cream and a side of bacon. After that it came down to the time of the photowalk Adobe had put together for us. It ended up being at least 100 people who attended. Pretty wild! We eventually visited a shop that held a lot of old originals by the late animator Chuck Jones. I had to get a selfie in with Wile E. Cayote. Then we were off to our dinner to end the night.
I woke up the next morning with an eagerness that I would be attending my first Adobe MAX Keynote with a massive audience of 10,000 people. We were all introduced to the many intiatives Adobe was involved with in the year and inspired by the wonderful programs they had introducted the year before. Ah, but my favorite part was when the voice of Bart Simpson, Nancy Cartwright, came to the stage! Straight after the keynote, I was on call to take over the Adobe Creative Cloud & Adobe Stock Facebook Live! They had a whole film crew set up and I was honored to interview Kyle Webster, an amazing resident artist of Adobe. He actually made me a 'painting', shown below. It was my first time ever doing a live takeover. I was super nervous but it was a lot of fun. Then I visited another part of the conference to get a behind the scene looks at the new Touch Bar on the Mac. The night eventually ended with a fun night out with all the Insider's and we all knew we had a long day ahead of us the next day.
Our second keynote of the conference was to feature some really wonderful people like fashion designer Zac Posen, war photographer Lynsey Addario, Experiental Artist Janet Echelman, and filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, more on them here. Each guest speaker were extremely unique in each of their talents but I was most definitely impressed by Lynsey Addario, I know my words could never describe her in the correct way so I would hope you check out her work yourself... She is such a powerful, powerful woman. Zac brought out his famous LED dress that he made for Claire Danes. Lynsey shared her wonderful photography, Janet shared her wonderfully inspirational story of imagination and action, and Quentin finally laid the truth down that yes, he will retire after his 10th and final movie.
Just after a small lunch break, I did a live tutorial on iPad Pro's with some of my favorite Adobe apps like Lightroom and Photoshop Mix for a lucky group of 20 people. It was so fun and they learned so much! Immediately after, we were brought back into the auditorium to watch the most anticipated event of the entire conference, Adobe Sneaks, with host Jordan Peele, from Key and Peele. He was so, so funny and entertaining. Not only were we having a great time with laughs, we had an amazing experience with seeing new programs that Adobe is working on, like Stylit, VoCo, ConceptCanvas, and WetBrush, just to name a few. Click here to see the full list and video of all the programs. When we were finished up being complete swept off our feet by the design love in all our blood, we ended our experience at Adobe MAX with a final party on the water with musical performances, delicious food trucks and unlimited drinks while, of course, surrounded by the best art.
All in all, I had such a blast at Adobe MAX. It was an honor to be an Adobe Insider and I hope that I attend the next year as a main speaker! View some of my photos below. Also the two Facebook Live takeovers I did! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, Hannukah, and Kwanzaa! or any holiday you celebrate, I celebrate with you :)
oh, oh, oh and I turn 27 on December 19th!
I hope all is well. It's been a small while since I have updated the blog but I have some exciting news to announce. Do you want to win an Apple iPad Pro + an Apple Pencil valuing at $1200? I would say yes! All you have to do is click this link here, watch my simple tutorial and make a piece of your own to post to Instagram or Twitter. Make sure you tag #MakeItOnMobileContestSwopes or #MakeItOnMobileContest and #TheBullyProjectMural.
I really wanted to do this project because I have been subjected to bullying in the past, and I still deal with it til this day. No one is immune the words that some people tend to spew out of their mouths or behind a keyboard, but I think it's important to realize that people tend to project their own insecurities on to you. Stay strong and know that there's always a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel when you stay true to who you really are. You'll thank yourself later. The contest ends Oct 9th, so make sure you enter and don't miss your chance to win!
Another thing, I have been doing so much more research on the right way to do a Vlog and whatever I did last week kind of sucked but don't worry!! I will get better and be sure to shoot my next one with my Canon. Should I continue doing vlogs? Maybe I'll try to one every week instead of every day. I don't know if I am built for that. haha!
oh, and with the code SWOPESSODOPE, you can get 20% of your prints. Enjoy.
I am so, so excited to launch my new website. Here I will start blogging about my daily life, announce new projects and share amazing news with you joining me. Only here can you get the latest scoop, new videos and personal experience from yours truly. Most excitingly, I added a shop with prints!! :) Feel free to shoot me an email if you want a specific print.
To start us off right, I am so happy to share my project with Canon and Vice. Be sure to click the link to see more and read about my experience with the Canon EOS 80D DSLR. It was such a fun project and such an honor to be featured along with some other really amazing artists. I've added some of my images from the project to this blog entry.
That's all for today, but be on the lookout for bigger and better updates along the way!
Have a wonderful day,
